- ECR Research Poster Award
In October 2023, a 3 days symposium focused on “Signaling through Chromatin: from molecules to ecosystems” will cover innovative aspects of chromatin and epigenetics, from the atomic to cellular, organismal, and population scales.
The symposium will be comprised of eight sessions, exploring chromatin dynamics and its link to several DNA and RNA-based processes such as transcription, DNA replication, repair and recombination. Finally, dedicated sessions will feature the translational implications of epigenetic studies and the development of “epi-drugs”.
The symposium will present multiple approaches, such as quantitative proteomics, metabolomics, structural biology, single-cell epigenomics and population studies in different model organisms, from yeast to plants and mammals, including 3D culture models.
Sabrina has been awarded the ECR Research Poster Award, sponsored by Cancéropôle CLARA, for her research work : “Hybrid Vigor in tomato defence: the Role of Endogenous Pararetrovirus-Derived sRNAs and DICER 2 in Tomato Hybrid Plant Immunity”

- New Phytologist Early Career Researcher (ECR) Travel Grant Recipient
The New Phytologist Foundation has limited travel grants of up to £100 for ECRs and students that wish to attend, as well as a number registration fee waivers places for New Phytologist Symposia. Sabrina has been awarded both the travel grant and fee waiver to attend the three-day workshop to launch New Phytologist’s Transformative Plant Biotechnology section. This workshop will bring some of the leading researchers in plant biotechnology together to share their current research, and to discuss Transformative Biotechnology and what developments New Phytologist hopes to encourage with this new section.
- BBSRC Impact Acceleration Award
A competitive funding scheme (only 3 awards) to support researchers working in biotechnology and biological sciences by UKRI Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council in accelerating research-startup learning via the Cambridge Judge Business School’s EnterpriseTech Training Program at the University of Cambridge.

- Freiburg Rising Star Academy Resident Fellow
Eight finalist of the 22 international fellows of Freiburg Rising Star Academy will be selected for the residency program to carry out their respective research proposal at Host PI’s lab at the University of Freiburg. Sabrina’s proposal on investigating RNA modifications on neuronal RNA signatures, co-proposed with Dr. Valérie Hilgers, has been selected by the panel as one of the eight finalist. She was awarded 5k euros to complete her residency program at the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics.
